15hh, 13 year old black Irish cob gelding - £3250
I have a really soft spot for Freddie. He is a very gentle cob with a kind, sensitive way about him. He reminds me of the lion from the Wizard of Oz-he looks like he could roar, but all he does is a little squeak!
He is a nice responsive ride who listens to the leg and voice and at the moment is my main Equi share horse, teaching and hacking out with a variety of different riders and also going to the local dressage with some of my lovely Equi share ladies.
He was very well behaved, and although he wasn't placed he was obedient in the test and got some good comments. He is responsive which is nice in the school because you don't have to wear yourself out keeping him going. He always tries really hard to please and loves to go to work. He works really well with trotting poles and loves to do a bit of jumping. He is comfortable in his paces. You could think that he was a bit 'busy' but in reality he wouldn't go fast enough to keep himself warm! Out hacking, he will have a little jog to catch up if he is left behind but he is always ridden in a snaffle and is not strong or spooky. He is fantastic in the heaviest of traffic and I use him a lot for escort or nannying other horses.
I have also used him for ride and lead.
He will stand for hours to be brushed and I think he would really benefit from being someones special friend. He is good out in the field with the other boys and is brilliant to shoe and clip although he was a little worried about his ears being done. A really lovely older horse who would be fab for sponsored rides, hunting or just a lovely allrounder.
